FAQs

How do I make an appointment ?

You may schedule your own appointment unless your insurance requires you to get a referral from your primary care doctor.  To make an appointment, call the North Franklin Office at 860-889-7345 or refer to the Phone Number section for more information.  You can also refer to the Directions section to get driving directions to our office.

What do I bring to my appointment ?

New Patients:  Please bring any previous xrays or MRIs of your affected body part.  If you have had surgery on your affected body part, please bring any operative notes, implant records, physical therapy notes or arthroscopic photos which you may have received.  A Medical History form is available for download if you prefer to print and fill it out prior to your appointment.

Existing Patients:
If you are going through physical therapy, please ask you therapist to give you an updated progress note.

How do I schedule my surgery ?

Dr. Stanat submits your surgery information to the surgical office.  Within one week, you should expect a call from them to decide on the date and to complete all the pre-requisites for surgery (labs, EKG, appointment with your primary physician, etc.).  If you do not hear from the surgical coordinators within one week, you can call them to check on the status of your surgery.  The surgery scheduler (Katie) can be reached at 860-889-7345, Ext 107.  She can help you with the process of setting the surgical date, in addition to obtaining the appropriate pre-op labs, tests, and medical clearances.

Who do I call if I have questions?

Dr. Stanat has a triage nurse who can be reached at 860-889-7345 extension 133.

How do I get a refill on my pain medication ?

We encourage you to discuss pain medication refills during your appointment with Dr. Stanat.  All medication requests should go the Patient Portal on the Norwich Orthopedic Group, P.C. website.  If you happen to run out of medication, please call 860-889-7345, Ext 157.  Be sure to call at least 3 days before you run out of your medications.  Be sure to leave your name, date of birth, allergies, the name of medication you need, the frequency you take it, and the pharmacy information.

Important points to remember....

- If you believe you are having an allergic reaction to your medication, go to the emergency room or call 911

- Prescriptions will not be refilled after hours, on weekends or holidays.

- Do not take more than is prescribed.  Your prescription will not be refilled early.

- Lost or stolen prescriptions will not be replaced

- You should receive your pain medications from one physician and one pharmacy.

- Narcotics are very addictive.  The more you take, the less they work and the more dependent you will be on them.  Try other ways to reduce pain (anti-inflammatories, ice, etc.).
